Hi, I'm organizing my CD collection and was wondering if some of you KC experts could help me figure something out.
Red and Starless & Bible Black both show copyrights of 1974. Does anyone know which one was released first?
Yes, I organize my CDs by year and order of release...I know its a little OCD, but a boy has to have a hobby.
Any help is appreciated. I think Red came first, but I'm not sure.

Re: Which came first?
Fri, December 23, 2005 - 6:21 PMStrange to think both of these albums came out in the same year. Both are very different. There is stuff on "Starless" that's almost unlistenable. I can play "Red" over and over again and still get the chills. -

Re: Which came first?
Tue, December 27, 2005 - 9:51 PMThey put out two albums to finish off contractual obligations. I think it was either Red or USA that completed their contract. Then Fripp put the band to rest until the 80's.
I agree that Starless is weak album. It is interesting that the excellent song "Starless" is on Red. -

Re: Which came first?
Wed, December 28, 2005 - 2:11 AMThat's funny, I love Starless & Bible Black. Fracture is a great tune.
Red was my first CK purchase, so its basically my Prog first girlfriend. -

Re: Which came first?
Wed, December 28, 2005 - 4:50 PMI think Starless is an amazing album. Even more so, when I found out it was a live recording, with all traces of the audience cut out. I think it's second only to Lark's Tongue for pre 80's Crimson. -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: Which came first?
Wed, December 28, 2005 - 7:24 PMI agree with Andrew, the creativity coming out of these two albums is mind boggling. I put In The Court at no.3 and Red at no.4 followed by Poseidon which has my favorite song on it called Cat Food with some crazy piano playing. -

Re: Which came first?
Wed, December 28, 2005 - 7:29 PMCat Food is amazing, mostly because of Keith Tippet's creepy, broken glass piano playing. There is a great collection of early Crimson called "Young Person's Guide..." that has some of the best of early Crimson, with no filler. -

Re: Which came first?
Wed, December 28, 2005 - 8:00 PMI was lucky enough to see a concert by 21st Schizoid Band a couple of years back and the highlights of that mindblowing concert were definitely Cat Food and Pictures Of A City. The playing by all was awesome, wish I could see them again (and again!)
